What
MITRA is a simple, friendly app designed for elderly people in India. It helps reduce social isolation by connecting seniors with others who share similar hobbies and interests, encouraging meaningful connections both online and in person.

Why
In India, many elderly people face loneliness, which increases their risk of dementia. When they have fewer social interactions, they may feel more stressed, less active, and mentally disengaged. MITRA aims to change that by offering a space where seniors can feel connected, supported, and involved, increasing their well-being and brain health.

How

Mitra harnesses phygital interactions, a mix of physical and digital experiences, to reduce social isolation among the elderly. It encourages in-person meetups based on shared interests, as well as online activities, one-on-one chats, and solo hobbies to keep users connected and engaged from anywhere. It is designed specially for seniors, using clear visuals, simple language, and easy navigation. By promoting social and mental engagement, MITRA helps lower the risk of dementia.

The name “Mitra” comes from the Hindi language and means “a friend,” reflecting the app’s goal of connecting elderly people and creating friendships.
